Sambar With Pampkin

Ingredients

  • Yellow pumpkin - 1/4 kg
  • Tamarind - little (Use Microwave to soak and get the extract quick)
  • Red Chillies - 3 (Based on your need)
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
  • Thuar Daal - 1 tbsp.
  • Gram Daal - 1 tbsp.
  • Grated fresh coconut - 5 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - a pinch
  • Seasoning - oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves, coriander leaves

Method

  • Soak the Thur and Gram Daal before 30 mins
  • Cut the vegetable into small squares. (Don't remove the skin). It gives nice flavor with the skin
  • Season the mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds
  • Add the vegetable, turmeric powder and tamarind water
  • Allow it to boil for 10 to 15 mins
  • While its boiling, use other thick bottom container
  • Roast chillies, coriander seeds and coconut separately
  • Make a smooth paste with the above ingredients along with soaked Thur Daal and Gram Daal
  • Add the paste to boiling vegetable
  • Add salt to taste
  • Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leaves
